1. Information We Collect

When you create an account or use the Platform, we collect:

• Account information: name, email address, phone number, and password (stored as a secure hash — we never store your password in plain text)
• Address information: street address, city, postcode, and country, used to show approximate distance between Cooks and Neighbors and to coordinate pickup
• Profile information: profile photo, bio, and (for Cooks) Venmo or Zelle usernames you choose to display so Neighbors know how to pay you directly
• Listing and order information: food listings, allergen tags, order history, quantities, and pickup times
• Messages: content of messages sent through the Platform's chat feature
• Reviews: star ratings and comments you submit about completed orders
• Technical information: login timestamps and basic device/browser information collected automatically for security and troubleshooting purposes

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and maintain your account, and verify your email address
• Display your listings, profile, and reviews to other users as intended by the Platform's features
• Enable Cooks and Neighbors to coordinate orders, pickup, and payment directly with each other
• Show approximate distance between a Cook and a Neighbor before an order is placed
• Send transactional emails (e.g. email verification, order status updates)
• Send in-app notifications about order and message activity
• Moderate messages and reviews for prohibited or abusive content
• Maintain the safety, security, and integrity of the Platform, including suspending accounts that violate our Terms

3. What We Do Not Do

• We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes
• We do not process, store, or have access to any payment card, bank account, or payment credential information — payments are made directly between users through independent services such as Venmo and Zelle, subject to those services' own privacy policies
• We do not use your data to serve third-party advertising on the Platform

4. Who Can See Your Information

• Other users: your first name, profile photo, bio, and rating are visible to other users. Your Venmo/Zelle username (Cooks only) is shown to a Neighbor once an order is placed. Your address is shared with the other party to a transaction only as needed to coordinate pickup — for example, a Cook's pickup address is shown to the buyer once an order is marked ready
• Platform administrators: Platform staff can access account, order, and moderation data as needed to operate the service, investigate abuse, and enforce our Terms
• Service providers: we use third-party services to operate the Platform, including our web hosting provider, our email delivery service, and mapping/geocoding services (such as Google Places and OpenStreetMap/Nominatim) used to autocomplete addresses and estimate distance. These providers process limited data (such as an address you type) solely to provide their service to us, subject to their own privacy policies
• Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required to do so by law, or in good faith belief that disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect the safety of users, or investigate fraud or abuse

5. Data Retention

We retain your account, listing, order, message, and review data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward as needed to resolve disputes, enforce our Terms, and comply with legal obligations. If you deactivate your account, your profile is no longer shown to other users, but historical order and review records tied to completed transactions may be retained.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including hashing passwords and restricting administrative access to user data. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Cookies & Sessions

The Platform uses session cookies that are strictly necessary to keep you logged in and to remember your preferences while browsing. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

8. Your Choices

• You can review and update your profile, address, and payment handle information at any time from your profile page
• You can request that your account be deactivated by contacting us through the Platform messaging system; deactivated accounts are hidden from other users
• You can decline to provide optional profile information such as a bio or profile photo

9. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not directed at, and must not be used by, anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after a change is posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. It is your responsibility to review this page periodically.
